Motion graphics Bejing Opening Ceremony
So everyone was blown away by the opening ceremony but damnn, what about the motion graphics?!!?!?!? How amazing. Talk about putting motion graphics on the map.
Instead of watching the rest of the broadcast I was online digging around for details about the hardware and technology used to render it and who was involved in the design.
The hardware
The led screen on the ground was 147 x 22 meters (fully stretched) and was made of 44 000 leds.
There were 120 XPe-based Axon Media Servers running:
· Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processors
· ASUS P5W DH Deluxe Motherboards
· ATI HD2900XT Graphics Cards supplied by ASUS
· Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB Hard Drives
· Highly customized Microsoft Windows XP Embedded O/S utilizing DirectX, DirectShow, and .NET 2.0 Framework.

The top of the birds nest was HD video projected at 492m X 14m
84 Christie Roadster S+20K 3-chip DLP(R) projectors were provided by Wincom Technology Development Co., Ltd. These output at 20,000 ANSI lumens
